A minor in chemistry requires the successful completion of the following courses:

  • CHEM 1410, 1411, 1420, 1421, 2410, 2411, 2420, 2421
    OR
  • CHEM 1610, 1611, 1620, 1621, 2410, 2411, 2420, 2421
    OR
  • CHEM 1810, 1811, 1820, 1821, 2810, 2811, 2820;
     
  • CHEM 3410
  • One other chemistry course at the 3000-level or higher (except chemistry research courses).  CHEM 3721 may be presented as the elective course.

Although not prerequisites,  it is STRONGLY recommended that students take the following courses PRIOR to taking CHEM 3410 or 3610:

  • MATH 1210, 1220 or 1310, 1320 – Calculus I and II
  • PHYS 2010, 2020 or 1425, 2415, or 1610 – 2620 – Physics I and II
  • PHYS 2030, 2040 or 2630, 2640 – Physics Laboratory I and II

Warning: University policy does NOT allow elective courses in your departmental major to be double counted towards your major and your minor. For example, CHEM 4440 cannot double count for the chemistry elective and a biology requirement. If you have questions consult with an adviser or Cindy Knight.
