The Chemistry Department at the University of Virginia aims to develop highly skilled and educated young scientists by providing an undergraduate education rooted in experience and research. For decades, the Department has ranked amongst the top ten departments nationally in terms of the total number of undergraduate and/or ACS certified chemistry degrees awarded.
The department consists of internationally recognized research active faculty who also excel in teaching. They have received numerous awards for both research and teaching. Because of this strength, students are exposed to interdisciplinary scientific fields, highly technical and specialized instrumentation, and meaningful research experiences.
