Chemistry graduate student Haley Scolati received a Grote Reber Doctoral Fellowship from the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO).

For the next two years, this award will allow Scolati to work on her Ph.D. thesis project, “A Machine Learning Approach for Astrochemical Applications.” It will allow her to conduct research at the NRAO site in Charlottesville under the supervision of an NRAO staff astronomer or engineer.

The fellowship will also provide her with resources to travel to other observation facilities to aid in her research, as well as scientific conferences to share her work related to her thesis.

The NRAO is a federally-funded research organization that builds and operates high-sensitivity radio telescopes for use by scientists. It is headquartered on grounds at UVA.

Congratulations to Haley on this incredible achievement.
