Professor Marcos Pires has recently earned two grants from the National Institutes of Health.

The first, an R01 grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, was awarded for the Pires Group’s research in “Bacterial and Molecular Determinants of Mycobacterial Impermeability.” The grant is worth $3.6 million and will allow the researchers to investigate the growing threat of antibiotics resistance.

The second, an  R35 (or MIRA) grant from the National Institution of General Medical Science, will fund the group’s research “Unraveling Bacterial Cell Wall Biosynthesis and Sensing via Synthetic Analogs.” The grant is worth $1.95 million.
